About Paul

Paul has two passions, art and music. Born in Bogota, Colombia, he and his siblings moved to the US when Paul was 4. Growing up in a small town in Louisiana, Paul began sketching and drawing at a very early age. He began painting when he discovered acrylics in middle school and chose that as his favorite medium.

Inspiration has been drawn from the spirit and incredible sounds of the 60’s and the work of painters Joan Miro and Peter Max’s colorful and joyful expressions. Paul loves to experiment with different styles, black and white, portraits and colorful abstracts to intrigue and engage the viewer. As Paul puts it, “abstract painting gives me so much freedom, an escape that takes me to so many wondrous places.”

Paul is a dedicated lifelong student of the arts and the world he is influenced by. He is a fulltime artist and currently lives in the Kenwood neighborhood of St. Petersburg. He is an active member of the Artist Enclave of Historic Kenwood and has completed a number of public art projects. He is currently represented by Woodfield Fine Art gallery in St. Petersburg.
